DAY 1:

INTRODUCTIONS & THEORY


After initial Introductions, participants will gather for a series of lessons through the morning withRicardo Azarcoya, that will cover an introduction and explanation of his (continued) evolution as a photographer, how he composes images using light and backgrounds, motivations and goals in the work we make, how to create a narrative in a series of images, and the big question for every photographer - how to find and use storytelling to empower photographs.



In the afternoon, after a glorious lunch, you will learn to photograph what people don't see, find the story and how to structure your photographs to capture powerful images.

DAY 2:

IN THE FIELD

FIRST ASSIGNMENT

MERCADO EL CAMPESINO

  • We will photograph the market, the community and the stories there. Participants will do their best to interview subjects - names, ages, contact details. And always offer to send the people you’re photographing digital copies of the images.


  • Objective: Find the real history / 5 final photographs. Strengthen your photographic style, identifies the correct light, and works the same image until you capture your best one.

EDIT

  • Edit your work to compose a final story as you learn from Ricardo's workflow and guidance.

  • Learn how to select the best of your photographs from the narrative and not aesthetics.

  • Captions, selection of images from the first assignment .

DAY 3:

IN THE FIELD

SECOND ASSIGNMENT

NIÑO FIDENCIO

  • El niño Fidencio was a famous Mexican healer. The story goes that Fidencio goes that Fidencio was famous for carrying out operations using pieces of glass, without anesthesia and without causing pain in their patients. According to his followers, Fidencio continues to work miracles through channeling people of their powers calles Little Boxes.

DAY 4:

EDITING & FINAL PRESENTAIONS


  • Edit your work with Ricardo, Raúl and Alain to compose a final story.

  • We will work to select 10 final photograps to create a powerful essay that recount Fidencio's celebration from your vision and style, we require to build this story.

  • We will write captions, run through post production (if images are raw) and sequence the images to present it to the rest of the class.

  • In the late afternoon, we will have open discussion and questions
